I’ve been fortunate to be able to take a couple of
trips with Captain Ortego out to Mosquito Lagoon and every trip
was a unique memory. Not only is Captain Ortego very dedicated
to providing a great fishing experience but he is also very knowledgeable
about the waters he works in and the different species of game
fish that are in them. From the moment you meet him at the dock,
to the very end of your day Captain Ortego always gives everything
he has to make each trip an excellent experience. With Captain
Mike as my guide I've been able to catch and release tarpon, large
gator trout and some of the biggest redfish I've caught to date.
Thanks for the many bent rods and I'm looking forward to my next
charter.

Hands down the biggest Red I've ever caught. I love fishing
and usually fare pretty well, but it's so sweet going out with a
guide like Captain Mike who takes the guess work out of fishing!
If you want to catch big fish and lots of 'em, bring your "A"
game and call Capt. Ortego.

I had the chance to go out with Captain Mike twice over the
last 2 months and we have always been right on the fish. Sneeking
up on them in stealth mode in a foot or two of water, sometimes
seeing them tailing and other times seeing their shadows in the
water. Captain Mike Ortego has extensive knowledge of Mosquito Lagoon
and we were all over many huge Reds and Black Drum! I personally
caught my largest Black Drum of my life which I was thrilled about
last month. We were all over numerous slot and oversized Reds as
well and even had a doulbe hook up while bringing some of the those
lunkers in. You can bet you will get the best service, tackle, and
based on his knowledge of saltwater will be sure to "reel em
in" on his watch! Thanks Captain Mike for my best experience
on the Lagoon and finding the fish!

I had the pleasure of fishing with Capt. Ortego last week
in Key Largo and Whitewater Bay in the Everglades. He has a great
personality and demeanor! Whether you are a novice or knowledgeable...
being on his boat will be a great time. I guess I should mention
that he put me on six different species of fish in one day! Thanks

I have fished with Captain Mike Ortego before. It was an
unforgettable experience. “The Florida Fisherman”
knows the Mosquito Lagoon like the back of his hand. He can take
you to countless spots that all produce not only quantity, but
quality fish as well. He teaches you first hand the thrills of
stalking tailing redfish, to pitching crabs to schools of 500+
fish (not sarcasm, it’s unbelievable). He’s not only
a great guide who knows and loves what he’s doing but he’s
a very entertaining guy as well. You’ll be reeling in redfish
all day while hysterically laughing and having the time of your
life. See for yourself, it’s a great experience and a great
trip.

Mike, Just wanted to take a second to say thanks for the trip
the other day and how pleased I was with our trip and the out comes..
It was a great day and just plain fun to be back on the water in
the lagoon again its been way too long.. There isn’t... anything

I've gone out with Captain Mike many times now and whether
were trolling for dolphin in the Keys or hitting the flats for reds,
he always puts us on the fish. He's got a great instinct and the
knowledge of fish habits that together give him a really high success
rate. Everytime out is a blast and I always leave having learned
something new. I'll use Mike for all my Florida fishing trips in
the future.

Best flats fishing day I’ve ever had!
Before my trip with Capt. Mike Ortego, I had never caught an over
slot Redfish and by the end of our trip had had caught three of
them. If I wasn’t so over eager on the hook set, I probably
would have had two ore three more. Can’t wait for my next
trip!
